Method
- Place pizza stone in oven and preheat to 450 degrees F. Let it heat for at least 20 minutes.
- Roll out pizza dough on lightly floured parchment paper to about 12 inches. Transfer to a baking sheet if not using a pizza stone.
- Drizzle olive oil over dough and spread evenly with fingers or a pastry brush, coating all the way to the edges.
- Smash 1/2 cup blackberries in a small bowl with a fork. Spread the pulp across the dough like pizza sauce. Discard or drink the excess juice.
- Sprinkle shredded Parmesan and Swiss or mozzarella evenly over the berry base. Dollop ricotta in spoonfuls across the top.
- Scatter whole fresh blackberries and chopped green onions over the cheese. Season generously with salt and black pepper.
- Slide the pizza on parchment onto the hot stone using a flat baking sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and crust is golden. Broil for 1 extra minute for more color if desired.
- Remove from oven and immediately scatter fresh chopped basil on top. Slice and serve right away.
Notes
Do not skip the fresh basil. Use generously salted pepper to keep the flavor savory. This recipe doubles easily to make 2 pizzas for a family of 4.
