Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough store-bought or homemade, let rest at room temperature for 20 minutes before rolling
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese whole milk low-moisture mozzarella preferred
  • 1 cup pepperoni slices mini pepperoni work best inside rolls
  • marinara sauce for dipping, warmed before serving
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 pinch salt
  • olive oil spray for coating the air fryer basket

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Rolling Pin
  • Pizza cutter or sharp knife
  • Fork for crimping edges
  • Olive oil spray

Method

  1. Let pizza dough rest at room temperature for 20 minutes. Lightly flour your surface and roll dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. Cut dough into 3x3 inch squares using a pizza cutter or sharp knife.
  3. Place 1 tablespoon of shredded mozzarella and 2 to 3 pepperoni slices in the center of each square. Add a small pinch of Italian seasoning. Do not overfill.
  4. Fold dough over the filling and press edges firmly together by hand. Then use a fork to crimp all the way around the edge to seal completely.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 375 degrees F for 5 minutes.
  6. Spray air fryer basket with olive oil. Arrange pizza rolls in a single layer with space between each one. Cook in batches if needed. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking the basket once halfway through, until deep golden brown.
  7. Let cool for 2 to 3 minutes before serving. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Do not skip preheating the air fryer or the rolls will steam rather than crisp. Never overcrowd the basket. To make ahead, assemble and refrigerate covered for up to 4 hours before cooking. Cook from frozen at 375 degrees F for 12 to 14 minutes with no thawing needed.
